Tom Savage is an independent-self proclaimed visual entertainment producer. He is known for his work as a board game developer, graphic designer, web producer, video director, actor and professional illustrator.
His notable work include the graphic novel series The Anathema, the card game Grimoire Quest, and his beloved web-cartoon and children's literature series Ash & Raimi.
Tom cites Gary Larson's The Far Side and Bill Waterson's Calvin and Hobbes as his earliest influences in illustration and cartooning.
Tom was a student at Macomb Community College where he studied fine art and graphic design.
In the spring of 2010 Tom began another one of his dreams with the help of his fellow students, friends, and colleagues by beginning principal photography for Dead Woods. A full length “slasher” and dark comedy feature film. Dead Woods was written in only two days and began casting and filming nearly one week later. Despite the rushed kick off, the film has received mostly positive feed back for its homage to the forgotten genre of classic low budget slasher films of the 80’s and 90’s.
Tom graduated from Macomb with a degree in graphic design in 2010 and began an internship with Greater Media Inc. designing classic rock & roll web art for the WRIF and many other radio stations across the country.
Tom’s work in the horror and science fiction industry has also contributed to many licensed properties such as George Romero’s Night of the Living Dead and many others including Dr. Who and the Daleks, David Bowie in the Man Who Fell To Earth, and the classic British TV show, The Avengers, Source Point Press, Rocket Ink Studios and more.
Tom is also known for his unique work on several horror film one sheet posters for Joe Hollow Productions including, The Family and its sequel The Family Returns, A Blood Story, Cannibals, and Disciples. As well as posters for Lyon Productions including Little Creeps, Monsters on Main Street, and Don’t Wait Til’ Dawn.
In April, 2015 he released the first issue of his limited sci-fi horror series The Anathema. The Anathema has received extremely positive reviews and praised for its originality and fresh style. The series will continue as a trilogy of books being released by serial chapters as comic books over the next 10 years or until completion.
In 2017 Tom created over 300 illustrations for his original card game Grimoire Quest. The game was completely designed and produced solely by him alone and funded via a Kickstarter campaign. Today the game is highly regarded and continues to grow in popularity. The success has led to the production of a new board game titled One of Us due to be released Summer 2023.
During the spring of 2019, Tom began publishing an original webcomic called Ash & Raimi as well as a companion Children's book series The Adventures of Ash & Raimi. Since then two children's books and a volume of over 125 comics have been released.
Tom continues to work as a full time employed graphic designer, and a part time adjunct teacher at Macomb Community College. He remains constantly busy creating original illustrated work for magazines, celebrities and fans, as well as film making, acting and his own entities under his company Martian Ink LLC.
Tom is married to photographer Elizabeth Savage and they live with their two cats Ash and Raimi.
